I have had my detector two months and have been doing quite nicely with the coin shooting but have been hunting areas like beaches and parks that I hoped would yield a piece of jewelry now and then. Today it happened. I got a TID of 42 so I thought I was digging a U.S. quarter but instead found a 6 gram piece of silver necklace. Was very happy but still wondering why I can't find any other jewelry. The park I am searching has been there since at least 1910 and was an "auto park" on highway 101 in northern California where passer bys could camp for free back in the day so I assume a piece of jewelry or two may have hit the ground. As I was pondering my lack of success I remembered reading a part in the e-book describing what I may be over looking with some TID's. In the re-read I began to see where my error may have occurred. Because I was originally digging pull tabs and bottle caps in the +12, +14, +16, +18, +20 TID range I started to ignore them every time as I hurried to get rich. I have over looked hundred if not thousands of these TID at the park. I now see that even though some of the junk gives off these TID's I see the really good stuff, gold, platinum, white gold etc. also give off these TID's. Of course I thought I was still a pro detector so I went immediately into my yard to prove the e-book wrong. That didn't go well. My wife's thin band wedding ring gave a TID +12. My wedding ring gave off a +20. I will never pass on this TID range again. After all what better do I have to do. I am digging +30, +32's (U.S. penny) out of the ground all day. Thanks again for the book digger. I will try to pay attention this time.
