It warmed up to balmy -11 C, no wind and lots of sunshine today. I hadn't seen the Yeller Feller for years....until today. In case you didn't know anything about the Yeller Feller, he is a squirrel who took a liking to the ACE 250 nearly 3 years ago, as I was trying to photograph some birds. The Yeller Feller noticed the ACE sitting in a tree, so he just jumped right up on the ACE, posed and smiled. I happened to have my camera ready, so I got a cool shot of him. You can see that pic on the bottom right picture above with the caption "YELLER FELLER 2005". Pictures of the yeller Feller have been posted around the globe many times. Mary at Garrett has even used pics of the "Yeller Feller" to do presentations.
Fast forward it to 2007, and he still remembered the metal detectors. I had a good look at that yeller Feller, and noticed a little more grey in his tail since the last time I seen him. Oh well, it happens to all of us. These detectors weren't yellow like the previous one, so he approached cautiously towards the Infinium, and was even going to climb right up and again perch himself up for another photo-op, but somebody was taking their dog for a walk, with no leash attached, in a leash only section of the park. Well, the dog went after the Yeller Feller, and he bolted up a tree like a bat out of hell. I had to entice him for 45 minutes before he would surrender his fears and come back to the Infinium for a snack. By this time, the chickadees had (for the 5th time) eaten all the seeds again. So, the Yeller Feller chattered at me for several minutes, took off in the brush and never returned. I felt sad.....one of my favorite buddies in the woods left sadly because the birds had taken all his seeds.
Well, I was freezing by this time, so I went to the nearest toboggan hill, hunted for a while, and below are the results of the hunt. I got screwed again. What an interesting day it was........
