I rescued an interesting button today.....

My brother and I went back to an old site where I had found an 1837 Hard Times token, and he found an 1834 Bust Half-Dime last year. I didn't find any coins today, but did find an interesting old military button.

X-70, sensitivity at 28, GB 34, 6-inch DD coil. 5-inches deep, with a solid audio and a TID of 32.

Any button experts out there???

Here is the front side

and the back side

and it's size, compared to a dime

Thanks. HH Randy

Randy, I ain't no bootin guy but I seen four like this at http://www.civilwarbuttons.com/infantry.htm listed as "Greatcoat Buttons." Around $50-$100 a head, I think it was. Not too shabby.

I hope all involved does not mind me helping out! I posted your button, the link to your post, on the American Relic Hunters Forum. Those guys really know their CW and Revolutionary War relics. Forum friend Rocky IDed your button and provided a few links. Here they are and enjoy your nice find. HH, Mike

Great looking button Randy. Is that hollow or solid? Ive only found a few buttons and they were all solid ones.

Older than most of your coins, good going!

Good one Digger. Some buttons are great to find and from what I hear your military buttons are right on the money so to speak.
Us poor Aussies have to do with the old diggers long john buttons which seem at times to be everywhere. I dread to visualise why:heh:
