Hi All,

I went to feebay and spent a staggering 86 bucks on an older detector, I hope it will be an ok unit, a freedom ace plus. What coils are availble for it? I mainly hunt for coins and jewelry, I will be going to a fresh water beach and hope to do ok with it. Which will be the best coil choice for this unit?

The coil was a 7 1/4 inch standard with a 10.5 inch optional if I'm not mistaken. If you plan to hunt in the water, the 10.5 inch coil is bouyant as I recall, making it difficult to use underwater. That should be a decent basic coin machine.

Remember you can always trade that in to Garrett for 40% off the list price of a new detector.

Happy hunting!

The old FA+ is one of my favorite Garretts. If you have the "M" coil connector pattern, any of the GTAx coils or the newer Ace series coils will work on it. If you have the "X" pattern, then any of the GTA coils will work. I have made quite a few nice finds with mine over the yers, great little knobby machie. HAve fun with it!!
