I read the manual and it shows 1 settings for looking for coins and another setting for looking for jewlery, I like to look for both, do I have to go through a place once for coins and another time for jewlery or is there a setting that will detect both but also eliminate out junk?

Just set the detector for jewelry. The only problem you will have with that setting is, you will also find tab tops. The coin setting just helps to eliminate finding junk like tab tops and small pieces of aluminum.

Create a test garden in your backyard. I'm not really familiar with your model, but this holds true for all machines. Bring all denominations of coins as well as pop-tabs, soda caps, foil and aluminum (can slaw), nails, etc..., and also gold and silver jewelry and learn how your machine responds to all these targets in both modes. This will give you the best idea of how you think you should run your machine. Something else this will teach you is most gold items fall in the junk signal range on BH's (and most other machines) and with a minimal increase in discrimination, gold will be lost with trash. So you really have to dig allot of junk to find gold. Coins and silver are allot easier to pick out. I hope this gives you a good place to start, TC & HH, JJ
