Garrett has put their hobby division on the back burner. Just setting on their oldie but goodies. The new detector don't seem like much more then a retooled Ace 250. May be they think that once this is out they can set on it for the next 15 years. Garrett was always the forerunner in detectors. Not anymore. Hope they make me eat my words soon...lol

The GTI series has been around since the GTI 2000 which was the first one back in I believe the late 1990's like 98 or 99. Any how it's been a good 10 or 11 years since we seen a new top of the line detector from them. While the rest of the detector manufacturers have put out at least two over that same period of time.

Greetings to all,

I sort of agree with you Terry. The ACE 250 was such a hit that it became the most popular selling detector in the Garrett line, maybe even in the world. It was such a good performing detector for the money that for a lot of the treasure hunters that bought them, it does all they need and it very well could be the only machine that they will buy. I personally know some of them. After all it is close to a 1/2 and even 1/3 the price of mid range machines and 1/5 or less than upper end machines. I think Garrett recognizes this and is targeting the ACE 250 owners to get them to move up with the ACE 350. For only about 15% more they get a little higher operating frequency (it won't interfere with all the Ace 250s out there) and should be slightly more sensitive to small gold targets. The resolution in the area of small gold targets is improved and they packaged it with an excellent coil and even a set of reasonably good ear phones. I can't wait to get one of the coils for my ACE 250 and my GTP 1350. Yes!! they are leveraging the ACE 250 but for about $35 more than the ACE 250 they are offering a pretty nice detector package with some real performance improvements and that just might get some of those " the ACE 250 does all I need" treasure hunters to start moving up.

HH and Goe Bless!!

Yeah Fisher has put out several. I think Garrett devoted a lot of their time to their military division designing and producing the exotic mine detector they have plus their security division along with law enforcement spreads them pretty thin..
