It would be interesting if Tesoro's famous "language" could help discern between tabs and zincers. I know a lot of tabs aren't a solid tone on my Silver umax.daddyflea said:LittleJohn said:I believe I am going to send my Golden in for the "operation" and get the tones redone. I would think about that. They do not spread the tones apart. They change the order of items that hit and effectively eliminate two of the tones. (Low since you rarely use zero Discrimination and Zincs because of Pulltabs)
Iron Low tones (You never Hear this one)
Lower tone Pull Tabs Zinc Pennies (You can not tell Pull tabs from Zinc Pennies and this is out of order from Discrimination)
Middle Higher Tone (Nickles & Little Junk)
High Tone (Good Coins)
For people that use the older version, run their Discrimination low, listen to the tones, and use their ears to decide to dig, this effectively screws up the order that everyone is used to on your Discrimination dial.
If they had left the order alone and simply made the tones easier to tell apart it would have been a good thing.
I did not like the change at all.
Well, that would depend on how you like your present setup. I wish I'd had experience with the former setup as some say they got to where they could even tell what kind of pulltab they had. And I don't know whether having the targets lumped together would be better. One thing about it, the coins are lumped into basically two categories and that would seem to be nice for coinhunters. Both sound like fun to me.LittleJohn said:so maybe i should save the $50 plush shipping then huh?
jackintexas said:I have been detecting 35 years. I used to find a gold ring now and then by accident. About 7 or 8 years ago I started being a jewelry hunter. Since that time I have found over 100 gold rings. You will find most of the gold rings are in the foil. So I concentrate on the foil and the nickels only. With the Golden you can set it up to only hear the foil and nickels. And yes coins. I ignore the coins when jewelry hunting. Yes there are nice rings in the pull tab area. I have one that appraised for $2000.00. But most of the gold rings lost are small women's rings. Most men wear only a wedding band which they could not get off if they wanted. I don't have the time or the back to dig every target. Now in some areas I do dig every target. At the beach, volley ball courts, tot lots ect. Most of my gold rings in the last few years have been with a Garrett 250. I can notch out everything except what I want to dig.So if you have the time and the back to beep and dig. Good for you. A saying in the detecting world I believe in is .....he who digs the most.....finds the most.....Jack
