I ran into some weird interference on a usually quite beach

Hunting the Infinium with 8" & 14" mono. Now I know this is the Atx forum, but I believe most of you guys may have graduated from the L/S. Normally I can tune the Infinium from dead quiet to very little noise, on this stretch. Well what happened after a few yards on wet sand, the L/S went crazy. No emi or ground balancing worked. Even holding coil straight up didn't work. BUT. After wading to knee deep the machine ran dead quiet, & hunted very well. For two days this went on. Yesterday, took it for a little test hunt off beach, worked normally. So anybody got an idea what's up ??

Problem solved.
After some trouble shooting, switching mono coils ,a light bulb went off. Remember reading around here , use the DD coil on minerizaied, salt beaches. When having trouble. After minor tweaking the L/S ran as quiet as ever for me. Case closed.

I have had success with using a different frequency. BOTH on the Infinium with the mono coil and the ATX with the standard DD coil.
At one beach the interference was related to the High Speed Acela train. For a few minutes either side of the train's passing I would have to stay chest deep until I tried tuning to a different frequency. Dog fences have done my detecting in also.
