I found the gold/green one in the water, and Nancy found the silver/diamond one on land on the same day. I gave them to a jeweler friend of our for analysis and at last we know what they are.

The gold ring is gold. The ring is hand made and very old. The jewelry lady wants to buy it from me very badly. The interesting thing about it, the stone is jewelers grade glass. She said that in the 1800s and older, stones that big (4 carats) were almost impossible to find and high grade jewelry was made with glass all the time. She also said that the glass stone did not really lower the value of the ring! I do not know for sure how much it is worth, but she says it is very collectable.

The one Nancy found is silver, which should make it cz stones, but.... they are diamonds, laboratory made diamonds. They have the all the class of perfect mined diamonds, but are not as valuable. They were set in silver to tip off anyone that the stones are not what they look like. It takes an expert to tell the difference. If they would have been mined diamonds the ring would have been worth one heck of a lot, as it is it is still a couple hundred bucks and it is fabulous. Nancy loves it.

So,, There you have it, I learned a little more about jewelry, Nancy got a nice ring to wear, and I am holding out to see how much the gold one is worth. I do not want to sell it, it is a find. DC
