I passed the "nail test-Small silver ring under large nail!...Silver u-max w/7" coil

Darkflight

Not a bad score for this park-especially the area I was in-very hunted by me & others. What kept this one a secret for so long wasn't depth-it was only an inch or so under. But after I pulled the ring out the propointer still was busy so I kept looking. I pulled out the large nail. The nail was just under the soil while the ring was beneath it under a root. It was a iffy signal that was still around after the shake test. So I dug in & like I said-the ring was what it pinpointed on. But the nail was right above it oriented about as shown in the 1st pic. For such a tiny ring it is a good job of discrimination on the Silver. It is marked Sterling "patent Pending". I found a mans ring with almost identical details and it was from the 20's ...so I guess this is an old one. Stone has a few chips out of it so glass?.Just wanted to show a real world score in very tough conditions...

Cheers!

Nice score Darkflight, probably more targets missed in this scenerio that are still in the ground. Tesoro exels at unmasking good targets in iron nails, my Compadre does well in most cases, but in aluminum trash, well.......good luck at that.

Hi, Nice find. Do you use the wide scan or the concentric? I have a Silverumax and use the 7in widescan.

It's the coencentric...I don't know why they were discontiued it is a great coil.

The nail was found after I dug the ring out from under a small shallow root-Under a tree by the picnic benches right in front-many detectors have passed over it I'm sure. The nail was not touching-just burried above the root. But it was still mostly buried & I saw the fact the tip of the nail was over the area I fished the ring out from under-The ring was probably over an inch but less than 2" down under a root & the nail was at 3/4 on top.
