I now understand a caliper is a must for bullet ID.

I picked this one up for $5 at a yard sell.

My measurements came to 1.091 x 681. The bullet on the ID page was 1.091 x .682. That is close enough for me. There wasn't any weight listed. It is a Minie for an imported musket U.S. The one on the page that I was ID'ing mine from was found 60 miles from mine.

I'm happy!

Now all you need is a powder/bullet scale that weighs in grains. Can be found at any reloading store: Midway Shooters supply/MO, Cabela's, etc. Digital scales are excellent but can be costly. Try to get one that weighs as high as 1,000 grains. Some early bullets are chunks. We used to have a bullet scale, but they are no longer made.
