I now no longer work for Wal-mart - Prayers for a new and better job needed

Pete in MI

New member
First time in all my working life that I had gotten fired. Laid off many times, positions terminated, reduction in force, quit but never been fired before.

Its a hard lesson to learn and the Word says the mouth is the hardest thing to get under control.

We're now looking at fixing up the house and putting it up for sale and moving north. Gladwin looks like a nice place and dates back to the 1800s - lumbering era with many people coming to cut wood from countries all over the world. What I read there was mention of a few 'ghost towns'. Would be nice to detect those places.

Mike from MI - won't be able to get those pulltabs to you I had mentioned - sorry.

Still things I need to find out like do I get unemployment at all? What to do with the money in the 401k - have to find somewhere to move it to? Will I get paid for my vacation time I didn't get to use (almost two weeks pay in that)?

Hoping we can sell the house for what we want for it and sell it quickly so we can leave this city and get a fresh start elsewhere and where we will be closer to both Sherry's Mom and to my Dad, and my sons and grandson.

I know God opens new doors and am hopeful He will provide. The future is not hopeless because God is with us - not against us. This is also an opportunity to show Casey the difference in how her Dad handles his getting fired and his desire to spend her educational trust fund instead of finding a job and how I handle things by not sitting around expecting the world to cater to me and what I want. God will provide and meet our needs. Thanks for your prayers everyone. God knows what He is doing even if I don't but my trust is in Him.

This is another test and when you come through with flying colors on God's side, you'll see the blessings He has for you poured down from the windows of Heaven. As far as your two weeks vacation pay, this they cannot keep and is due you on your final paycheck, unless you have used some sick days beyond what you were entitled to in the time that you've worked, which will be deducted! As far as unemployment, I don't know and you will need to check into that with the unemployment office! The retirement plan will need to be rolled over into another one at your new place of employment or rolled over into an IRA, so you won't have to pay an ungodly amount of taxes on it! If you take any of it out at all or all of it, it will be taxable in the year received!

You may need to talk to a CPA or an attorney. There should be legal advice for those who don't have a lot of money in your state!

Hope this helps and God Bless you with a new and terrific job, with selling your home quickly for the price you're asking and your move goes smoothly to where you, Sherry and daughter want to be! She may not like moving, as she would need to leave her school and classmates, so you both will need to talk to her and explain the whole situation and then do all you can do and then leaving it to God and our Lord and Savior Jesus to do what's best for you all! Betty

Prayen for you I have been fired after what I said to the boss I expected a vacation! Only way to get one at that place. Usally you can draw unemployment with a penality mine in Wash. state was 6 weeks.

God will take care of you. Consider moving the 401K to a Roth IRA in a brokerage firm. I had to move mine when I retired and that worked out good for me. One thing you have to make sure of is when transfer is done do not let them make the check out to you or you will be paying taxes and penalties. It has to be made out to who its being transfered to. A broker can assist you with everything and will make it an easy move. Good luck and prayer is forthcoming.

Remember that God has a reason for everything. He has plans for you and his plans did not include employment a Wally World.Doors will open and he will guide you to where he wants you to be. Just keep the Faith Pete and Gods Will, will be done.

May the LORD bless your efforts to better lot in life and provide for your family.

Sign up for unemployment. They will probably deny it at first but the state will accept after your protest, or whatever they call it. This will take time but you will probably get it.

You might want to check out the employment opportunities where you want to move first. Get the job then sdell and move.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do but throwing thjings out there for your consideration.

Sounds like you had bad management at your store but life doesn't allow for many adjustesments for bad management. The foot soldiers take the bullets for the bad directions of the leaders.

I hope you find the job that is perfect for you, where God wants you to be.
I lost my job four years ago in the only industry I knew anything about, I felt like giving up, but it turned out to be the best thing that could've happened to me.
I will pray that employers will have open hearts and minds to you. Like you say, you never know what God has in store.
God bless and never give up!

He will provide all that you need and will lead you where he wants you. Be open to His leading and His voice! God Bless!
