Taking your typical lake into account and beaches along with the typical weather If I were to drop a ring into the water at 5 feet off shore compaired to dropping one 20 feet off shore, How much longer would it take for the rings to get to shore line ???
Do they ever get to the shoreline ???
Do they stay where they get dropped ???
Does it all depend on the winds and waves ???
I'm trying to figure out if it is worth going into the water or to hunt the beach part only???
I'm only looking for others opinions (not to start a war)...because there are so many variables to conclude a exact answer...
Thanks for lookin and HH

Hello,

Contrary to some things I have read on the forums, most of what I have heard and read has indicated that once the item drops, especially GOLD and LEAD (other than items dropped in a rip tide, etc.), that they pretty much bury immediately and do not move much at all (other than deeper) except for when a major storm (a strong Nor-Easter, Hurricane etc.) completely changes the ocean floor. Seems that even when items are dropped in rip currents, etc., once they bury, they tend not to move horizontally.

A few weeks ago, at High Tide, I took "sightings", used the old "vertical stick measurement technique", studied the local web cam, etc. to determine the distance from the Mean High Water Mark to the crowd of "bathers" in the breaking surf. The next two days I hunted low tides and stepped-off that distance from the High Water Mark. Sure enough there was a line of targets at that point. I then realized that other than the last hour, or so, before and first hour, or so, after High Tide, the "Rich Target Deposit Line" would then be located from the water line "out" at the following Low Tides.

Note: The beach that I hunt has a very gradual slope from the High Water Mark to way past the Low Tide Water Line. Other beaches I have seen, the "Rich Target Deposit Line" would always be past the Low Tide line.

DUH!!!!! (took me a while to figure that out!) That is the point in time that I decided that an Excalibur would be in my possession and ready to go before next "Depositing Season"!!!!
