My hunting buddy has a M6 and he feels he's not getting as much of the good finds as he should. He's looking to buy the 10 DD coil and he hopes this will help. Will it help or not.

I have been using the 10 D2 on my M6 and hunting in tones, seems to have helped me with the deeper stuff. Just listen for them faint high pitched signals.

What model & coils are you hunting with and is your buddy only using the stock 950?

What settings is he using? What sweep speed? Is he relying on a rock-solid TID lock or digging all questionably good signals? Are you referring to the number of finds he's making when the two of you are searching the same site?

Honestly, for most detecting sites, and not knowing how he's hunting, I would suggest using a smaller coil, such as the 5.3 Eclipse, setting the Discriminate level at the factory preset marker, and run the Sensitivity as high as possible above the preset marker.

Recover all good audio signals that do not register iron even if they don't lock on well.

It's obvious he hasn't mastered his detector and that's going to take time in the field and patience, and ample recoveries to learn the strengths and weaknesses of the M6. Just the same as with any detector model.
