I HAVE AN EXCALIBUR WITH THE OLD SEASEARCH COIL . WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SEASEARCH COIL AND THE NEWER TORNADO COILS ?

Hi BigDave, I have two of the Older Model EXCALIBURS, and I'm down to one with the SEASEARCH Coil remaining!! Many people feel that the SEASEARCH Coil is one of the H-O-T-E-S-T Coils, that MINELAB ever PRODUCED!! I happen to FULLY AGREE!! Take GOOD CARE of the coil, make sure you BABY IT!! Because if the Wires INSIDE the COIL CONNECTOR BREAK, you are S#%~ Out of LUCK!! It cannot be repaired!! If and when my other SEASEARCH Coil GOES, I'm going to replace it with a SUNRAY S-8 (8" Coil) Coil. Hope this helps, best of luck, Les Robinson

Weight is one thing. The 8" tornado (actually 7 1/4") is a bunch lighter than the seasearch coil. I find the tornado coils to be the most sensitive of the minelab sov coils.

Funny thing that the two coils I most rated were the Seasearch on the Excaliber and the solid white Coinsearch on the early Sovereign's. Seasearch was heavy and Coinsearch wasn't waterproof but I would have thought it would not have been the end of the world to trim a little weight off one and waterproof the other or was it because they were produced by Coiltek not Minelab ?

Brian, You told me something about the manufacturing of those Two Coils, that I did not know!! No wonder COILTEK makes such GOOD COILS!! Les Robinson
