about wetsuits vs. waders. I would like to get in the water further than waist deep, don't want to spend 500 bucks, around 100/200 is my range. Is that unreasonable? I know not much about this subject.

Mark, you probably will be safer with a wetsuit depending on where you live. If the water is real cold sometimes a wetsuit is not enough. Look on websites for scuba gear or try to find a scuba shop and try on a wetsuit to get the size you need. Then look around to find the best deal. also there are one piece and two models. I'm XXL and paid 125.00 for a one piece that fits me snug. its 5mm in arms and legs and 7mm in the chest lower body area.

pictured is a farmer john grizzle wet suit from NRS - 126 BUCKS - i do not know the thickness, but so far ok---------a farmer john has not sleeves,but comes up and over chest - so the next thing i got was a dry top (yellow)- kayaka waterproof dry top----- from NRS - called apex----$127bucks, it has waterproof wrist cups and bottom-------------wear warm clothes under it and upper body stays warm--------------so far--------then i bought a diver hoop with big overhang for when it gets real cold - 26bucks.

wet shoes - 59bucks

so far i like it

will test this weekend again............much cooler then

for cold water shoes try

heavy wool sock layer
plastic bag layer with top up in wetsuit leg
summer watershoes over that

good warmth whether water gets in or not
