I need opinions on headphones

I have decided to try some quality headphones and need some help with my purchase. I have been told that Ratphones may not be the best choice for my Etrac and that the killer b's or Sunray brand would work better for my particular machine. I need opinions from users of these brands to chime in and give me some pros and cons of their phones if you would. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!!

It is a matter of personal preference.

I would suggest finding a metal detecting club in your area, if you are not already a member, and ask to hear the different headphones that the other guys use.

I have heard some say that this set is the best, but when I tried them I did not care for them,

I use the Detector Pro Accusound headphones and I like them a lot. Much better than the Koss's that came with the E-trac. The Koss's are nice, but not as trebly as the Accusounds. The stock Koss's are too muffled for me.

Everyone has different ears. Sounds sound different to other people. Lots of people cannot hear certain sounds due to military service, loud rock music or their jobs. As we get older, our hearing ability lessens. Others can hear everything. So saying this set is better than that is highly subjective.

Some people have big ears and certain headphones will not be comfortable for them.

Again I would recommend listening to the different headphones and try them on to see if they are comfortable for you. You can't always go by what someone says.

i have the ratphones max for my e-trac..they are very comfortable to have on , though the sound tends to be a little on the dull side and not quite enuogh volume..i am thinking of adding a volume control to my koss headphones as the sound quality is quite good with them.

With the hot summer days we're having here in Western Australia, I decided to give some high quality SONY MDR-EX700SL ear buds a try.

They're perfect. I also purchased an in-line volume control , so I can control the volume at any point I wish to without altering the volume on the E-trac controller.

They have an absolutely great response ability with the E-trac, light to wear, very comfortable and I would recommenced them to anyone who wants a good alternative to ear muff type headphones.

When the winter comes back though, I might go back to using the original stock koss's that were supplied or get me a pair of the Sunray's or Ratphones.

Actually that's pretty much what I'd said too - the Rats don't have the sound they had with my T2. With a T2, they are WAY better than the Pro Gold's or anything else I've tried (and the F75 should be the same way). But on the Explorer they seem a bit muted. I guess every headphone type has certain detectors they work better with and others they don't. I think the Rat Max phones are truly outstanding all in all, they just didn't have the oomph with the Explorer they did with the T2. So I ordered some Killer Bs for the Explorer and also the Koss phones that come with the machine don't sound bad at all, they just don't have volume controls and have kind of a cheap feel to them.

I use the Ratphones at the beach, they fit well/block the surf well and sound ok. I use the Sunrays in land where ocean noise isnt a factor.
If anyone can recommend something else that has the sound of the sunrays but also blocks the noise well let me know. Also the larger earcup is important, I guess Ive got big ears:surrender:............the grey ghosts pinch and hurt to wear for to long.
