I need input on Minelab GP3500 and the GP4000

Is anyone on this forum using one of these machines? How deep do they go on say coins, buttons, and artillery shells? Which one is better? Can you distinquish well between brass/coins and iron?

The folks on them sites use 3500's and 4000's a lot and should be able to answer with informed info.
