:usaflag:I would just go with the stock coil set on Jewelry ...four bars of sensetivity.

I don't use or own a larger coil than that, so someone may say that it (larger coil) will work better.

If the larger coil is not a DD or Excellerator coil, just go with the stock coil. You may not get the depth, but you will pick up the smaller targets better.

Good to hear you back! I go with the stock or the 9x12. I've been using "All Metal" mode unless it gets too annoying. You can do wet sand but keep the sens at 3 to 4 or the falsing will drive you crazy. And most importantly-Have Lotsa Fun!
Good Luck

It is my understanding that it is only go on dry sand.
As for the large coil, 9x12, I have been using it the last three days.
It covers more area. I even went back over an area I had already
done and found more clad. This is because, I believe, my swing did not
overlap like it should. The only thing is that after three or four hours your
arm is going to want to FALL OFF! It get really heavy.

Larger coil will cover more area but will be more affected by enviroment...Use the stock coil with sens. and disc. low...not the best in wet sand but perfect in the dry sand...

Katz, Using a Gizmo will help balance the machine a lot better. Plus less torque on your arm.

Mcdave has it right. Jewelry mode, 4 bars sens in the wet sand. In the wet sand your pinpoint mode is useless. Dig repeatable targets. In the dry hunt like you do anywhere and use relic mode. Your pinpoint will work just fine in the dry as long as the sand isn't too dark.

Hey John,

Congrats on the honeymoon trip. Perhaps Ms John can show you how it needs to be done out there on the beach !

My Ace works okay on the beach here. You may have to notch out the lower segments but dont go higher than the notch just below nickel or you will lose the fine small gold items.

Run sens as high as you can, even if it only means 3 or so bars.

Main thing is to have fun and dig the goodies.

Miss ya here at the beach!

Tony
