I need help with my ace 350

Im really starting to miss my ace 250....Ive been out a few times with my ace 350....with the DD coil...the thing is a bottle cap magnet......I then moved to the 9x12 coil and my first hunt was ok...BUT, it seems this machine lies to me more than what the ace 250 did...with the Ace 250 if I could get a quarter or dime signal Id say 40 % of the time it was....with the ace 350....Im not kidding...its about 10% of the time......aluminam cans and trash.....my trash consumption has gone from about 60% to 90% with the ace 350.......Am I doing something wrong ? Am I just hunting in trashy areas ? I still havent figured what coil is better...the DD coil or the 9x12 coil. Please ACE 350 users......make me feel better about this machine. : )
Thanks

The 9x12 will help on your caps. Raise the coil off the ground 12 inches and sweep. If you still get a beep then it's a can. The DD coil will tell you it's a steel cap off the toe or heal better than the center.

I hunt in jewelry mode and listen for the bell and then the "boop". I have been able to cut down on the caps by not using the coin mode. Even in jewelry mode a cap will sometimes only give a bell signal, but it does help.

yeah but the boop also boops for dimes quarters and nickles....i tried it last night...the tip method ? your probable losing some coins as well.

Well, for one thing, the 350 was designed more for the relic hunter than the coin hunter. If you'll notice on the display, the mid-tone range is expanded at the expense of the belltone coin range. Putting a 6 x 9 or the 9 x 12 on it will eliminate most of the bottlecaps but franlky I prefer the target seperation of the DD. With the other 2 coils, you can miss a good target snuggled up next to an iron one. The DD will most likely pick it up when the concentrics will not because of the target masking. Frankly, I like my 350 better than than my 250, but that's probably just because it got me 3 gold rings the first 2 hunts with it and paid for itself. The 250 would have probably found them just the same. Good luck and good hunting!!

It is not a miracle cure. A good target will give a good signal in say, 3 out of 4 directions. The DD coil has its draw backs, but it certainly has benefits.
I hope this helps. When I first got the 350 I struggled, but the last few times out I have gained confidence and less trash.

It ground balances itself.....unless I'm missing something. I'm having the same issues, but only had it for 3 outings.
