I need all the help I can get .....

Good general purpose coil with good depth, but a bit large for many of the trashier places I hunt. For a second coil, especially for trashy parks etc. I'd suggest either the 4X6 shooter or the 5.3 Eclipse. The shooter is very good in heavy trash, while the 5.3 is deeper and nearly as good in IMHO.

Thanks for your response!

I hope that I will enjoy the detector!
As soon as I find something with it .....
I'll share my finds.

the 4 x 6 dd or the 5.6 concentric would be a good choice
your gonna love the mxt

The 950 is a great coil but you will definitely want a small coil to use in trashy places likes parks etc. I love the dd shooter myself. It will get right in there and separate the targets that are close together. You can't do that with the big coil.

Hi Larry, I think you're going to love the MXT. The more you use it, the more you'll like it. I've had mine for over 8 yrs. and still wouldn't part with it for any other machine. The coil I like most is the 5.3. It's a great little coil and separates great, pinpointing is on the money, and it's a bit deeper than some of the other smaller coils. IMHO. Good luck and you'll be playing in the dirt soon. HH, Nancy

Hi Larry and Welcome to the MXT.
You are going to go mad for a few weeks with this detector it is so chatty it will drive you crazy :veryangry:at first. If you hunt highly mineralized soil, then go for the 4X6" DD, it helps with the ground and improves signal response and gives more consistent VDI numbers. If your soil is neutral and you don't hunt on salt beaches then the 5.3 Eclipse is a good coil. If you get down to the beach to hunt I would go with the 6X10 DD, it will cover a little more ground and will handle the salt better as well as a great nugget coil if you hit the gold fields. I would also get a copy of Jeff Foster book "The MXT Edge" it has some good info on this great detector and helps you under stand how to deal with it. I have had mine for 2mo and have really got to like this machine a lot. It has put fun back in my Detecting. That what this is all about right?:detecting:

Hi,

I don't know what my soil is like yet?
It's all black and brown dirt to me.

I'm in Wisconsin. At some point I will
take my MXT to the beach shores of Lake Michigan.

Thanks for your imput

Larry

Larry,
Yes, I have used it and I sold mine. I didn't like the way it pinpointed. Many users swear by the coil, but when I gave it a good try.....out the door it went. My 5.3 isn't going anywhere. Just my opinion on the coil. HH, Nancy

The 4X6DD pin points under the clevis that connects the coil to the rod.Anotherwords dead center of the coil. pinpointing? No Problemo..

Nancy,

With the 5.3 ia the pinpointing good.
I assume its dead center of the coil.

If I ask stupid questions its because I
am so .....new!!

Thanks!

Yes, the pinpointing is dead center with the 5.3 coil. No stupid questions at all...... We've all had to learn at one time or another. I've been there! HH, Nancy
