I need advice on larger coil for my Cutlass II U-max

I have a couple of questions for Tesoro users. I have a Cutlass II U-max that I mostly use for parks and tot-lots. I only have the 5.75 concentric coil, but love it for what I use it for. My questions are as follows: I am wanting to do a little relic hunting and need a larger coil. I am considering either an 8", 10" with open hole, 8x9 or 10x12. I have heard that the 10.12 is really deep, but may be to heavy. Anyone using any of these coils please let me know what kind of depth you are getting and any advice on which one may serve me best for relic hunting. Also, is the Cutlass enought machine with a larger coil to do the job? It appears to be pretty much the same unit as the Silver U-max. Finally, I know this is not the assesories forum, but if you read this post and reply, perhaps you have a coil that I may be able to use. Thanks!

i have used the 12 x 10 on my silver i used to have and it worked great it does feel a bit awkward to at first but you'll get use to it, on a quater i could get 16" with sens maxed out and i think you will lose a bit of disc as well

One thing to consider is wether you'll be relic hunting in the brush or open ground. Many places where I hunt its overgrown, I use a 9x8 on a Vaq, anything bigger would be tough to work with in some areas..

8" or 8X9 to be ample for most tasks.

Yes, the bigger coils are heavier, especially since the

I had a 10 x 12 on my Cortes for awhile. Air tests on a dime showed no depth improvement over the 8 x 9 coil, and air tests on a quarter and half dollar showed only one inch more depth.

have a 12 x 10 on my cibola,,,its totally awesome,,,but you will not get the same performance from the cutlass as they are not as hot,,,try a cibola and put the coil on that,,,you will be gobsmacked,,its not only as sensitive as the stock coil,,but finds the same targets at 20%- 25% deeper,,very rare on a bigger coil,,,it will also work on salt wet ,,,brilliant,,,,,the coil is 6 oz. heavier than the stock coil but no real complaints,,,,love it,,,comcat:ukflag:

I'd think you would be better served by purchasing an additional machine with a larger coil.
