I need a new set of headphones any suggestions ?

I use the wireless now and it's really comfortable. With the DFX I used the Black Widow headphones, which have, I believe, about the largest sized pads available. That's why I bought them...big ears, also! They cost around $125-140 as I remember.

I, myself, am glad I got the wireless. Works great, for me!

I got the wireless headphones when I got the Vision and I'm happy with them. Only takes a couple "AA" batteries and I use NiMH rechargeable.
If I use corded, my next choice is the SunRay Gold Pro, then the Ratphones.
But I really like the wireless idea and have no regrets getting them with the detector. If something was to happen with the wireless, I'll get another ASAP.

I think the extra $200 was money well spent. You might be able to get a good deal on the classifieds from someone who may not like them.

The cups on the wireless phones are not very deep. My ears don't stick out and sometimes they hurt the top of my left ear. I am thinking about getting some thin weather stripping and putting it under the leather cup so maybe they will be a little deeper. I don't have this problem with my Sun Ray phones BUT.. the White's wireless phones sound 10x better with the V3 than the SRs do. I really like the SRs with a Minelab or other machines but the wireless White's phones kill them on the V3, the cup just needs to be deeper... IMO.

Ron, How would you rate the wireless phones to the Black Widows,or have you tried them on your V3? I bought my V3 without the wireless and went with the Black Widows.

Do you still have your Black Widows Ron?

I still have my Black Widow HPs...and boy, when you have them on both ears you can hardly hear ANY extraneous outside noise. The quietest I've ever used. The Wireless has much softer ear cups, so not bad even after hours, even, tho, I would have liked them to have a bit deeper cups as J mentioned. I use rechargeable batteries and I always have a freshly charged pair for the headphones 'cause the battery life isn't that long. Just have them in your pouch so you don't have to go back to your vehicle when the batteries get drained. My opinion is the BWs are amongst the best out there and the noise suppression is excellent when hunting in an urban setting with cars and trucks going by.

Hope this helps,

Captain Ron

I hate the feel of the wireless headphones...the cups are not deep enough.

I swear by my Killer B II Ultimas (with leather cups).

I love the wirless headphones and I have a huge head. I was so sure I would hate them so almost didn;t get them. My dealer assured me they were comfy and I'm glad I got them.

For the people who think they aren;t deep enough - someone used to make sheepskin pads to cover the inside of the phones (I have them on my koss TD80's. If they could be found again that would likely solve the issue. They do let in a little external noise but I prefer that. I don't like people sneeking up on me.

In terms of noise isolation, I found a cheap pair of in ear canal (not just earbuds) that are volume controlled on the cable, and they work great. And only cost a 10th of what the big headphone sets cost.

Yes, they'll work with the MXT.I got a set for my V3 and love 'em.
