I have the stock 10" fbs slimline and the sun x 5" and the fbs 800 .I gather info on the slimline that it wasnt great and very unstable. what should I be looking for as a all around coil . thanks for the help

No one coil can do it all...but there sure some GREAT ones.

Unfortunately your slimline isn't one of them IMHO.

You will get many different opinions...10 X 12 SEF...pro coil...Detech Ultimate 13"...etc.

Any of those would be a great choice. Just read the coil review post at the top of this page.

Hey guys I apprecite everyone info I just bought Andy's book and its a must have . Bryce thank you for your info that's in the book also, I am new to the explorer but will not back down from a silly issue of a bad coil. I will look into getting one soon, before I get to deep in learning with a bad one. THANKS A MILLION

use the FBS 8 it should give you near equal depth of the 10 slimline minus the unstable chattering and better seperation

..........because I use it often and it is a good all around coil but it loses nearly 2" of depth to my stock pro coil.
However to save money...if you aren't worried about losing 2" of depth firty13 has a nice point.

I used it today found little over 2 bucks and one was a jfk half dollar that was around 7 maybe a little closer to 8" in some REALLY hard. clay. Here in the Midwest we need rain was bouncing oo 27 oo28. It's not much but I'm proud of it I made my own pattern and stuck with it.
