I need a bell expert !!!

For the first three hours everything seem to give a sputtery sound and all I dug was trash. The last hour I found two wheat cents in one hole. I rechecked the hole and no more signals. I pp over it and had a faint signal. Dug and got me another wheat. PP again and found another wheat. total of four in one hole. !958, 1957, 1950 and 1940. The 1940 has diagonal lines in it. They seem to be in the metal. Anyone ever heard of such a thing.

A nasty looking token. It says Chevrolet Co. on one side and $5 on the other.

This is the second Mercury I found on this lot and the third within 50 ft. of each other.

I thought this was a pipe fitting at first. I cleaned it up and I think it is a bell. No threads and it has a hole on the top center.

Total. Junk earring and some clad.

Nice finds. That looks like one of them old hippie bells they used to sell in Ca.

Yeah I'm a bell expert. DING! - DING! - DING!. You sure find some strange and interesting stuff. If that bell is 2-3 inches in diameter I think it's a desk bell like in a hotel to summon the bell boys.. It used to have a plunger in it that you tapped with your hand to ring the bell and was probably chromed at one time. As for the strangely marked penny that is a baffler. Got any reports of UFO's or aliens in that part of the world.? :crazy Great looking Merc.

Maybe it had a handle attached to the top. I was thinking it was a handheld bell.

Back in the late 1960's, hippies wore bells. Here is a drawing from a book by Ruth Bronsteen, The Hippy

It could have been that also. What size is it? Any evidence of a clapper inside? Could have been one of those little hand bells that was used to summon the maid or butler.
