I got a pair of Koss QZ99 headphones yesterday... Now I can hear what the Vaquero is saying to me under her breath...

Seriously, good 'phones add a lot to the experience! Surface clad screams and deeper items sound, um, deeper.
 
Good headphones are a definite plus IMHO.

L4D, by "correct" threshold, do you mean setting it high enough to hear in disc?

Just askin because there might be something I don't know... I usually leave the threshold where I set it to GB the unit, which is around 1 0'clock, plenty loud to hear when I switch into disc.
