Ahhh the art of reflection...lol
I sold my Sov GT a while back and have regretted it ever since. Out of all the detectors I have owned this one really shined forth in finding old coins in worked out areas
( especially combined with the 180 meter). Many of you on here have given great advice on using this detector and I am thankful. Without you I would of wrapped it around my maple tree in the front yard lol. Having time to reflect on not having a detector at the present moment, I started thinking of possibly trying out other Minelab detectors such as the Explorer SE and Etrac. I have been glued to u-tube watching the videos and I am impressed. However, I love the musical tones that the Sovereign makes and its' simplicity in controls. As far as the latter two I mentioned, I just don't know if I could get use to the noise they make and the informational display. Although, I do like the idea of having the control panel in front of me while hunting. As far as the Sov, I didn't really care to hip mount but it did lighten it up for me to where I could hunt 8-10 hours a day. When I had the box attached to the rod, I hated this situation as I couldn't access the controls sitting behind me. To me it was cumbersome. I then started thinking that maybe that the Explorer and Etrac would be the alternative and that I should invest into one. Not quite sure I want to pull that "trigger". For those of you that have used the Sov and the Etrac / Explorer series, I would like to hear your thoughts on performance compared to the Sov GT. What am I missing by not upgrading to one of them? Am I missing a lot performance wise? That would be the only factor at this point that would make me purchase one of them. Just sharing my thoughts on a wonderful detector that is no longer in my possession or in production. - Jim
