I did some calling this morning and got permission to MD a field that use to have a 1 room school house in it. On the way there I stopped at the owner of a field that once had a church there. The lady there told me that I could MD the field only if I showed her everything that I found. I told her that I would be more then happy to show what I find in her field. I worked a huge area in the corner of the field where the church use to be and I only found two coins, but they were good ones, a 1903 Barber dime and a 1881 IH. I'll go back someday and work more of that field, but I have a feeling that I am not going to find anymore coins there. After that I went to the school house to do a quick check of the place before it got dark. When I got in to the field I had my coil setting on the ground when I turned on the MD'er and it went nuts, beeping and flashing #42 on the screen. I PP it and dug out a 45d Merc, lol. After I stood up I didn't swing the coil 2 foot and I get a penny signal, but that only turned out to be a clad penny. I was in that field for about an hr. before dark and I found a 1898 Barber dime that was hit by something and it was not me, lol. I also found 3 wheats, a token that is good for 5 cent and a thimble. In between finding the coins I dug a bunch of shotgun brass and chuncks of lead. Also this field is loaded with rocks about the size of your fist that makes digging a little tuff. For the short time that I was in this field it looks like it might be a good place.
After I got home tonight I called another farmer and got the ok to MD his field, which had a 1 room school house in it. So tomorrow I'm going to check that field out.
