the aircobra and p-51 mustang were the best looking fighters and the b-17 was undoutedly the best bomber.:thumbup:
dad took me to an airshow when i was an early teen and got hooked on the sound of a merlin engine with a four blade prop.
the sabre was a marvel of it's time but the mustang was the reason we do not speak german in this country.and i will throw another fact in on this.it was the tuskeegee[sp]airmen that proved the mustangs potential.there was not a better group of airmen in the sky back then.
happy veteran day to all who served!!
:usaflag::thumbup:you made this country great!!!!!

The beginning of the Mustang,It was a A-36,Developed for Britain in 1940 (Dive Bombing)They called it the Invader.
The early version P-51 Mustang had the Allison engine (1,100 HP).It did not have the HP to make a good fighter.Around 1943 they put the Rolls Royce (Packard)Merlin(1650 HP)That did the trick.Yes the Tuskegee Airman did fly the P-51,But only as a escorts,They never lose a plane they were escorting(I could tell you more about the Tuskegee Airman,But I ain't got time)hehehe

As for bomber I do like the B-17,But I think the B-25 is a better looking airplane(My opinion)Damn this is fun(playing on my ball field)hehehe

Have fun my friend
