I love my dynamic duo, the XLT and Modified IDX Pro

Had a 4 hr hunt at a site today plagued with hotrocks, iron, copper shards, pulltabs, and canslaw, LOL. First used the XLT and had almost constant iron smear and- or +95 readings so i knocked out +95 and proceeded to find a 56 Washington quarter in very nice shape and 3 wheaties still soaking. Since i only had 4 hrs the second half belonged to the IDX. The screen was either pegging block 8 hotrock or block 1 iron and thanks to Mr Bill mods was able to pull a 43 War nickel in nice condition and 3 more Wheaties still soaking. Only found 3 zincs and everything else was junk copper, foil, and pulltabs as i tried to go low disc. In very difficult conditions the whites detectors pulled through.

Had the same sort of site on Saturday. The XLT did 'OK' but was quite noisy while the modified IDX Pro was quieter and the slow-sweep and quick response and recover of the 2-filter Classic had the winning performance.

I use the PRIZM for new parks and kiddie sand box for CLADs AND WHATEVER.
I use the XL PRO for the old sites SILVER and GOLD"I have not found a gold coin yet"
But I found tons of old things and some silver.
For Me the XL PRO and PRIZM works Like the batman and the bird.

An analog detector. It is a very popular relic detector. You will also see it configured as a Blue and Gray. Exact same detector as the 5900 but just has different decals and the meter display is calibrated for relics instead of coins. It is the manual version of the XL Pro / 6000 Di Pro SL.

It came out in the 80's and has gone through some modifications and upgrades along the way. White's has just de-listed it on their website but you can still see what it looks like by downloading the manual on their webiste.

I like the ability to be able to configure it on the fly. I dont have to scroll through any menus to get to whatever control I want to adjust. It is right there on the box!! It complements the MXT very well. IMHO !! The only downside is the C-cell batteries (vs AA's) but that is a minor problem. A great, deep seeking machine and I like the sound it makes when it hits coins and rings. Very crisp and clean.

Hi clondike,

I haven't used an XL Pro or a Prizm but understand the outstanding capabilities of the XL Pro , however i'm curious why you only use the Prizm for new parks and sandboxes. I thought the Prizm line was the replacement for the Classic IDX Pro which i feel is more than capable of finding silver, gold ,nickels ,relics etc.

I like the fact that the Prizm is very light and yes it is a killer on coins.
My XL PRO is my detector that I use only for old stuff.
The Prizm is not a bad detector but it will not go as deep as the XL PRO etc.
You can swing a Prizm all day and night.
Even the XL PRO will get to ya if you swing it long.:detecting:
