My jewelry finds for the first 6 hunts with my new "gold toned" Golden uMax.
About $900 bucks worth of gold and silver.

Go ahead........say it...Tones Rule!

HA! I just wanted a group picture before I started selling the stuff and thought I'd share it.

That's just wrong to do us that way, especially me. I want to go detecting so badly, but I can't until my broken arm mends.

Those are some really super nice finds!

Awesome work! You could save them? Investment?

Very nice finds Mike ............

Golden Tones Rule.

Looks like the tones are working for you, way to go for the gold, Mike.

Mike I'm curious, do you attribute the gold finds to the tones or does the notch adjustment/tone break set up play a bigger part? I realize others things come into play as well, such as finds a place that has jewelry potential. The silver(being a high tone) you would normally dig anyway. Your finds make me want to try another Golden, I had an older one, but did not like the middle tone frequencies. Looks like your F5 is taking a back seat to the Golden these days.

You boys all know Mikes gotta finely honed skill at "knowing" the locations of the loot...I bet he can find gold with nothing but a pinpointer! I'm just glad he lives no where near me! WTG!

I wondered about that chain. But it was marked 14K and it was gold shiny under the patina.....

Guess what? Its brass. :sadwalk:

Only thing to do now is dip it in some Brasso or something that will take the tarnish off and sell it for a few bucks.

Oh well....next time for sure!

Sqwaby,

Its the adjustable tone break combined with the new tone they assigned to gold range targets. I can dial that new tone right to where I want it. Then I just dig that tone.

It is much like hunting in the 4 tone audio mode of the F5. Except where the F5's gold tone range is fixed, the Golden's gold tone is adjustable.

I've been using the Golden more lately than the F5 because for these spots I've been hunting, it is more efficient to hunt them with the 18" Cleansweep coil as compared to the 10" coil on the F5. The Golden isn't a replacement for the F5, more of a very good fitting compliment to it.

What was it Mike.Just the connection pieces on the ends were Gold. I have found a couple like that... It was explained to me they were sold at Flea markets and places as real gold and just a scam to the buyers..

Nice job Mike. I was going to post a message asking If anybody was finding anything shiny lately. Looks like someone has been. I only get out 1 or2 times a week right now. Two small kids, work, and my wife works. I enjoy detecting but time spent with my family is my real treasure. Thanks for sharing the finds Mike. Gives the rest of us encouragement. Proof that there is plenty of good stuff still left to find. Good luck everyone.

Thanks Elton!!!!

That makes me feel better. I still found gold, only it was "Flea Market Gold"

I wonder how many folks have been scammed like that?

They only see the mark on the clasp and think it's real...... Well actually the clasp is real ..............

Now thats just plain dissapointing!
Nice finds though

Tones are great to have. I took this Walmart wannabe Tracker out today. It's been in the closet with the batteries still in it. It doesn't even have a stand and the arm rest is gone, the knobs are missing-not even a headphone jack. I will have to put it back in operating condition after today. The tones and the small 4" coil I "glob-soldered" on the m/board helped find these two dollar coins and others my "better" detectors overreacted on. Why do I mention this? Because my Royal Sabre has the same variable tone make-up-I'm just gonna have to change it to "broad" notch to be able to have a wider range.

Some do cheat...perfect example in your case...some cheat on the kt. as 14 kt may only be 12kt all adds up with volume...Good idea to get all jewelry checked if its suspect gold as some coutries don't mark, may be real old and only your jeweler can tell you for sure.
PS: heck they are now puting fake stones in 10 kt. gold so don't be surprised if that large diamond ring is a faker as far as the stone.
Last but not least the tone it was found at sure would make that chain suspect but then again some fakers come in close and all the more reason to get all checked.
Case in question fellow found a non marked ring which did look like copper with fake stones....turned out to be turn of the century Russian with a nice diamond and two rubies worth big bucks..
in those days rings were not marked and mixed with different metal to give more of a copper look.....
Perhaps over the next hill and thats what makes the hobby......
