I know they are Revolutionary War era but...

I dug both of the buckles they are brass 2"long and 1-1/4 wide exact size and location of tongue,dug at different spots I know there was a Revolutionary War battle here in NY before I take them to a curator at the museum I just wanted an idea if they could be British and what type of buckle are they? I never even thought possible before. Thanks for any tips
