New NEL Sharpshooter for F75 delivered this morning. Ok, its 32 degrees but I should test it to make sure it works, right? Ok, we’re all on the same page.
Went to tot lot at park with wood chips under the play area, area usually good for a buck or so. Sharpshooter seems accurate and way easier to maneuver than the SEL Butterfly in smaller areas. Ok, out to a county park where I know its trashy as all get out but have pulled silver before.
Get to park and ground is like cement, frozen so hard the double edged Lesche shovel wouldn't penetrate more that an inch! Thinking seriously of heading back to town....But, there was some brush and tree trimming done last Spring and the slash pile had been burnt and still smoldering. Figured maybe ground should be softer from the heat so headed over there.
worked around the perimeter and getting a ton of junk signals. I hit one clear quarter signal hitting 86-88 pretty consistent and depth showed 4” and small target (compared to larger metal junk) so lets see if we can get to it. Fairly easy to get shovel down but plug half frozen so started to break it up. Bingo, silver rim sticking out!
1935D very well worn quarter!! Now for Spring to get here.....You can see the small hole in front of the log.

Thanks guys! I do have a lead on an old logging camp down in the woods south of me. I guy I hunted with stumbled into a few years ago and told me about it. Hopefully his directions are good. It would be an hour trail ride on ATVs to get to it tho. After watching DOP my interest is peeked!!!

Good save in the permafrost, Ronstar!! I can't even begin to imagine what that would be like. Look out Spring!!

HH okie
