I know gold rings ring on pull tabs and pennies but what does silver rings ring on???

I have an Ace 250, and I would like to find a silver ring or necklace, and I was wondering what to look for. I guess what I'm asking is, does it ring on dimes, quarters, half's, or dollars? I dig all of these targets but I'm just curious...:detecting:

I guess it would depend on size, I can only guess but would think a silver ring would show as a quarter? Necklace who knows?

I have tested several gold rings under my ace coil and they BOUNCE like crazy from foil to pulltab, so I bet if we skip all foil signals we will also miss gold.

Probably 50% to 60% of all the gold rings lost are women's. They are mostly small with stones (diamonds I hope). They about all read foil....Jack

The Ace has three ranges of audio enunciation:

Low - iron through foil
Mid - foil through screwcap
High - Cent through dollar

There is NO absolute point that a particular item will always signal at. There is only close, as there are far too mnay variables which are out of your control. So here's a rule of thumb that should hold you in good stead:

Dig anything that repaeats in at least one direction and sounds off with a high tone. Depending on the proximity of trash and on occasion, ground conditions, this can vary into the high mid range. But its pretty safe to say that you should dig high tones if you want silver.

Silver rings are usually made of silver and sometimes with another alloy, so depending on how much oxidation has formed on the silver itself and the type of soil and amount of silver has an effect. If it locks on fast and hard, and it's in the coin range, and coin size object reading (if you have that option)...dig it! :)

90% of the silver rings I have found have hit on quarter.

Agreed. I have had two hit on Half (big suckers) and two on dime (litlte guys) all the rest (about 35) on quarter.

Broken rings are a different animal. I had a small 925 ring that was broken ring up just above nickel.

Chris

I have only had one hit on dime. It was a very small silver band.
