just mentioned a Hot Head from Kellyco Ive never heard of. Is it the same performance wise, as Whites 5.3 coils?
Also Ive seen mention of a couple eight inch coils, ProScan,Royal and I have an eight inch Precision Scan. Just curious as to any differences of them, although I use my 9.5 most times. Are the 8 inch coils a better performer in a area with less trash in the ground. Or is it a weight thing? I can swing my 9.5 all day as long as I get a break here and there.
I really like my XL Pro a heck of lot more than my M6. Do you really think Whites will give it a new life?

here's a post Carl@Whites made.

The XL Pro got canceled because a rotary switch was obsoleted by the manufacturer, and a PCB redesign would be needed to use a new switch. The sales of XL Pro just didn't justify it. But this is a really good detector (I have one in my personal arsenal) and someone recently did a tone ID mod for it that made it even better. I would love to do an updated design (Coinmaster 6000/di Pro-XL Series 5 ??) but I need to figure out how to justify it. Nostalgia isn't enough!

The ferret coil is thinner and lighter weight than the 5.3 coils. I've used all three 8-inch coils you mentioned and found the Proscan to be the "pick of the litter" for me. Now that is not to say that the ProScan is a better coil than either the Royal or the Precision Scan. Remember, all coils are not created equal. But in the tests that I have done with several 6.592 kHz detector/coil combinations, the specific ProScan 800 I have was better than the Royal or Precision Scans that I had. Maybe I happen to have a super hot ProScan? Who knows??

If I am hunting an old corn field, with stubble sticking up all around, I would prefer to use the solid bottom 800 than the open centered 950. Simply a matter of not getting hung up "mid-swing" and breaking my rhythm. Depth wise, I give the nod to the 950. But the 800 does work in around obstacles better, due to it's smaller diameter. Frankly, I keep my 5.3 BlackMax on 90% of the time. Excellent depth, comparitively speaking. And the smaller size is not masked as easily as a larger coil. In real trashy areas, out comes the 350 Snooper. Unbeatable for separation on the 6.59 kHz detectors. And a much MUCH better performer than any of the 4 or 5 Elliptical BlueMax Shooters I've owned.

Nice answer along with the photo. Thanks

Could you PM me with the information on who did your Mods. I would like to have this done, but don't know who too contact.

I have sent three mods to USA, the last one to Hombre, a member of this forum.
The producer is Mrand, a great Polish inventor.
It gives 4 tones, even mixed, usable on all four modes.
You can use disc at 0, the xl pro becomes faster and more informative, allowing you to hunt without looking on the screen (the needle is perfect, but it slows your speed).
