Dont worry,I ground balanced to the snow and disc out the ice.I can use a backhoe to dig the hole and recover the gold.

Hey papajohn, do you run a pizza outfit? I live north of Edmonton and have about the same problem as you. We should both look to buy some land in San Antonio, Texas or something where it is warm in the winter...

John, get a whole bunch of plastic or wood paint stir sticks(they are about 14" long) and glue or glue gun different kinds objects at the end of each one. All kinds of coins(silver and copper), trash, pull tabs, alloys, iron, brass, lead, etc. and without glue gently tape gold rings on. Set up a stable test bench inside where it is nice and warm somewhere, situate the lower rod and coil so it is 90 degrees to the upper shaft with the VDI screen so you can wave the stir sticks in front of the coil while watching the screen at the same time. Experiment with all settings, take notes of the numbers, also listen for the different tones and sounds solid or broken up, and have fun. You will be ready for next spring with a running start.

I can use my X-Terra 70 inside(indoors) with no problem because of the digital V-Flex's immunity to most interference but my Musky picks up too much interference inside and chatters.

Dave, the only stir sticks I will use will be in my drinks.I will be going down south to Florida and South Carolina for a few months after Xmas.I should get lots of practise with the XT70 then.I hope to go to Alaska next summer and maybe do a little prospecting.H.H.John.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new X-70! I do hope your trip down to Fla and SC prove to be fun and productive. Good luck to you with your X-70, Beale.

I think we are going to have to build a BIG curved fence along the Canadian border to send it over to turn it back north. WAIT A MINUTE? I think we should thank you for blessing us with a taste of REAL cold so we will quit whining when it cools down a bit here in Missoula, Montana.:surrender:

Heated hand grips?? I want some!!!!!!

for us here in Southeast Texas....Although, last night, we got some snow....It felt very uncomfortable, just to cold for what I'm used to, it was in the mid 30's. HH

First time that I am going to use my XT70 on salt water beaches.I was thinking of using the stock coil on the dry sand, the 5x10DD HF on the wet sand and the 6DD HF in the shallow water.I dont want to miss any small gold.Any thoughts?Thanks,HH.John.
