I had at one time a 5900 di Pro sl (CB) and I can't remember if in pinpointing mode whether there was VCO or not. It seems there was. According to the manual for the 4900 (no meter), going into the pinpointing mode immediately goes into GEB Norm which is a non motion mode. No motion should get a constant, variable sound and an indication of where the target is as it is being swept, but obviously it is not. With a coin on the ground, I get a good sound for the target (in GEB Disc). Depress the button and I get the same sound as I sweep the coin. No increase or decrease of sound. Your thoughts please.
Thanks,
Mike

The 4900 did not have a VCO pinpoint, I use a 5900 DI Pro SL and it also has no VCO. With the button pressed you should get a louder response as the coil centers on the target but no change in pitch.
