I had a Silver umax in the past & that was the MOST FUN little detector (loved that 8" donut coil).----I got crazy & ended up selling it--regretted it ever since.---Tesoro detectors just seem to have a way of "growing" on you--you know what I mean, don't you? ---Anyway, I've convinced the wife that she needs one for her tot lots & for when the grandsons come to visit (you have to give these wives a "master plan" ya know).---So a new Silver is on the way and with an extra 5.75" coil for it, YAHOO!----So all that worked out but now I've got this problem--I don't know if I can ever get it away from her (them) to use it myself.--I haven't shot myself in the foot, have I??----They gotta sleep sometime! ---What you guys think? :) ----------Del

That's awsome, I got one last year and wasn't sure if I was going to keep it, but the more I use it, the more I love it. Very underestimated detector! Enjoy!!!

Way to go!

Tell them your elbow and arm hurts and you have to use it because of it's lightweight.
Let them use your Musketeer.....................:twodetecting: they will be asking to go home shortly there after.
Drive them home, shopping mall etc. and go back and hunt. Pray they don't find anything with the
Musky, you'll never get rid of them and you'll never pry the Musky out of their hands.

Can't beat a Tesoro for pure fun..............................and for finding tiny stuff.

I've bought and sold several Silver uMax machines over the years since they came out. I loved them all but would start thinking maybe I'm missing something so I'd go off and buy a $1,000 machine and have to sell the Silver uMax to pay for it. But then the finds fell way off and the big gun got boring so I'd sell it and get something else and eventually ended up with another Silver.

I've even tried some of the old Silver Sabre's and they're also very good and grow on you just like the Silver uMax. In fact right now I'm trying to find a mint original Sabre but they're not easy to locate. Meanwhile I ordered a near mint Cutlass II uMax and am now waiting for it to be delived. I owned the Cutlass before and should never have sold it. In fact, I should have kept every Tesoro I ever bought. I owned the Tejon, the DeLeon, most of the Sabres, etc., etc., etc.

Ya know something? Tesoros are addictive!

Hey, D&P, your the man then. Please, please, whenyou get that setup do some really scientific comparisons between the two coils and tell us about them. It would really be cool......:wiggle: Thanks, Ron.

Now that you have two coils for the Silver, the next step is to get another Silver so both coils can be fully utilized.

  Now that's an angle I hadn't thought of!!!!---Buy 'em FIRST (coils)---then tell 'em (wives) that we GOT to have detectors for those coils (to utilize those coils).---Otherwise it's just money wasted & we sure don't want that (husband or wife).----I'll bet that would work with ANY brand of detector & ANY wife!!!!----We may really be onto something here this time guys!!---Best part of it all--we could do it all right under their noses (provideing we can sneak the coils thru the front door first).  ---------Del

Hi all,

I've been away from detecting for about 5 years due to work and some elbow and shoulder problems. I'm now researching detectors (man has the technology changed). Reading this forum is a great help. Reading this current thread reminded me of my first detector - A silver Umax. I found more with that detector than any other detector I owned except for the Bandito II Umax I purchased after the Silver. In hindsight the Bandito was my favorite with the silver a very close second. LIke someone here mentioned I thought a high end machine would make my finds better but it didn't for me. Just the opposite. And the fun factor went down. Of course that's just me but I'm who I have to satisfy. Speaking of satisfying, my wife must have something to say here too as ya'll have mentioned. Last night I mentioned to my reluctant wife "I wonder how the grandkids would like metal detecting." Now it's a good idea to get another detector. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I've settled on the Vaquaro since it seems the most like the Bandito II. Next, which headphones? Let's see, smaller coil. Pinpointer. ............

those darn wives are always the foilers of all plans thats why i traded mine in!

That's why I got a blond! They usually sit around doing their nails, watching TV, and don't get in the way, and cause little trouble 'till beddie bye time, then you're damn glad you got 'em. :clapping:
