I Just Bought A Tesoro Bandido II

I got it to compare heads up to the Outlaw. It comes with a 7 inch concentric coil and a 8 inch doughnut coil.

I've owned one before, and really liked it a lot. I sold it because its high tone made my ears ring. It's such a good detector, it's worth another try.

Maybe I can figure out something with the headphones. The seller is sending me some Calrad headphone that he got when he purchased the detector.

He says they work great with the detector.

I was told by the guy I'm getting it from that he bought it new from Rusty Henry and the reason that he's selling it is because he has bad knees and can't detect anymore.

He went on and on about what a great guy that Rusty Henry is. I just kept agreeing with him. All of his customers are happy campers. Me included.

Nice work Tabman...the Bandido II Umax was to be my second Tesoro, but by the time I ummed and ahhed about getting it, it had been replaced by the Eldorado...downunder, there aren't too many good old machines like the Bandido coming up for re-sale. I am glad that I bourght the Eldorado, but would have liked to have been able to get the Bandido II. Good luck with yours, I'm sure you'll have fun with it. I know what you mean about a high pitched tone....my Cibola is high pitched, and it does take some getting used to...similarly with the Deleon, but I wouldn't trade either. Pete.

Glad you found a nice unit. Keep us posted with finds when it cools enough for you to get out and swing it.
Happy hunting.

Funny how we prefer different (pitch) tones on detectors.----I actually like the higher tone on the Bandito 2 better.----Same with the Vaquero/Cibola, I like the tone adjustment that Tesoro does on them from the "stock" tone to the higher tone.--------Pete---sounds like you have the "high tone" (adjusted) Cibola.----In your case, you might like it better if it was adjusted back down to the low tone (stock) tone.----Tesoro does that & it only costs $15.----------Del

If I was in the detector headphone business, I'd manufacturer one with a adjustable pitch control. Someone used to make one years back.

Awesome purchase Tabman. The Bandido 2 and Eldorado are both fantastic machines. The Eldorado used to be my favorite but I have a mint Bandido 2 umax that is the cats pajamas. My favorite is now the Bandido 2 umax....and I have owned about 12 different Tesoros.

Congrats on the new Bandito. I've had mine since they first came out , it's a great little machine that I hope to never sell

Thanks Del, but I'll survive with the way it is. I dont think it's worth sending it across the entire Pacific Ocean for the adjustment, I dont mind the high tones, but just prefer them a bit lower like the Outlaw or in between like the Eldorado...but I guess we cant have everything we want (I'm such a martyr:cool:) My old (departed) Silver Sabre II had high tone, and the DeLeon and Cibola remind me of it, so I guess it all sorts itself out in the end. Pete

Point taken Pete.---I guess I didn't take into consideration where you are located. :)

Tabman: I've believe that you used to own an Eldorado as well. If so, I'd appreciate hearing your comments about how they compare.

No Elton, I only have 7 Tesoro detectors. Just one for each day of the week. Not only do I have to decide where to go detecting, I also have to decide which detectors to take with me. I really like all my Tesoro detectors. They're so fun to use. :)

I just checked tracking and my Bandido II

Tab did you grab up that great " buy it now " priced Bandido II umax that was on flea bay recently?

If I hadn't of just bought my new Omega w/ 10" and 13" Detech I would have pounced on that deal.

Congrats on the new toy

No, I didn't get it there. I didn't see that one. The deal I got comes with 2 coils, the stock 8 inch doughnut coil and the 7 inch concentric coil. I want to give the 7 inch coil another try. They're getting hard to find.

OK it's here. :)

I'm totally elated with my purchase. It's in mint condition and its a hot one. I haven't had much time to do much testing because it didn't get delivered until about an 45 minutes before dark and it took me awhile to get it unpacked and put together. I put some tape over the speaker holes to quieten the audio down. Not bad. Then I tried the Calrad headphones and was amazed at how well they worked with the detector and how well they fit. These are very affordable headphones. The guy who sold me the detector bought it new back in 2000 from Tesoro and they also sold him the Calrad headphones to go with it. If I remember correctly, I think that Rusty Henry mentioned to me a good while back that Calrad headphones work well with Tesoro detectors, but it went in one ear and out the other. More testing is needed.
