I had a Olympus 3030z and started having problems with it. The contacts inside the camera were causing problems and I always had to mess with it to make the memory cards read and it now started shutting itself off after a minute or so.
I bought the thing at CompUSA a couple years ago and when I bought it I paid 80 bucks for an extended warentee. I usually don't do this but I sure the hell ainta gonna fix the thing. I paid a$950 for it.
When they sold me the extended warentee they said I could have the thing replaced one time. No repair, just replaced.
Since the warentee time was about out I fugured I would go and exercise my warentee. I went to the store I bought it at and they said no way. They would repair the thing but not exchange it. Pissed me off a bit and I left.
Today I went to another store near work and told them the same thing. They said no problem, lets go see what you want. HUH????
We went back to the cameras and the camera like mine now went for 700 bucks. In fact they didn't make it anymore and the 4040 was 700. He said that he would like to replace it with something of equal value! Thousand bucks!
OK twist my arm. I looked them over and picked out a Sony CDMavica CD 300. It is a 3.4 meg camera with the audio and vidio capabilities of my other camera but used a mini CD for storage. It is a little bigger than the 3030 but looked good to me!
Upshot is I got the thing. I also bought the extended warentee for this one too. Now I am good for another 3 years.
Thing is. Is this a good camera?? I use a digital Sony at work but never used this one or know anyone that uses one. Ithink Crazyman uses one but he has vanished again.. :0) He is a good man

You just have to go through another learning curve. I looked at Phil Askey's preview and you got yerself a fine camera. No wonder the camera is round! I guess it uses the minnie CD-R/CD-RW disc. I couldn't find out how many pictures the disc will hold but I would think it would be a lot more than Compact Flash cards. Plus youdt'thave to use cables to connect the camera. I would use JPEG fine with the highest resolution rather than TIFF (BIG FILES)unless you plan on doing a lot of editing. You done good son. Hope to see some pics soon.
Jerry
Here's the link to the preview. I know a lot of it will be over your head but what the hell, you are an OM---Haaaaaaa
