I hit the feild for a hour and did a straight grid pattern tthe feild is big as heck!!! I got few shot gun shell's and got a 1901 indain head penny down around five inches . I keep in the same direction and got some molted lead i through in the wood's and two minutes later!! I got nice 95 on the cortes so dug down eight inches and another indainhead penny I didn't have a lot time so i was swing the Cortes and got iffy signal so dug down around seven inches i thought i was a slug. I cleaned it up it turn out to be a 1861 indain head penny in a little rough shape !! What blast with the Cortes for the first find's of 2008 i will spend more time on sunday maybe there is some silver out in the feild!!!!!:clapping:[attachment 84846 civilwarpart2.JPG] ps I blown up the picture when you click on it!!!

Try All Metal mode. Ground balance. When you get a signal, flip switch to Disc. to analyze a little more. All Metal picks up deeper coins.

The soil in my area is very loose dirt and digging signal are easy no red clay or hardpan soil . I set the volume at three or four and use the sum mode when needed check target. I have played around with all the cortes options on the machine ps all i use is the seven inch widescan coil it get the job done and stabbs deep!!!!
