I have the Ace 250 and it's a great machine, but

My question is about the Minelab Xterra 30.
Is it a better machine?
Either one has ground balance, and there both light weights.
But the Xterra 30 has 4 tones and VCO pinpointing.
I have the large coil which is great for beaches and the stock coil.
I even added the rain cover, but now I'm thinking about trading it off.
I'm in upper NY and the ground isn't bad so I never had problems.
This will be the Ace's second year we've been partners.
Last year the Ace found it's share of finding. So I have to say it's a good machine.

Give me you opinion..

Thanks

Bruce

Well I run an X-Terra 70. IMHO if I was going to do an upgrade to the X-Terra line that is the one I would go for. Just so much more going for it. The 30 is a nice machine, but the ACE will find you the goods also. I really think of that move as more of a lateral move? This is all IMHO, Beale.

The Minelab X-Terra 30 does not have an adjustable ground balance, it is factory preset. The X-Terra 50 and 70 does have it. The 70 also has optional tracking.

hi bruce. just about everybody i know in the hobby eventually moves up to another machine - it's mostly a matter of time and how much you can afford to pay. i agree with beale - the xterra 70 would probably be a better choice. hh!

Bruce,if you are going to change metal detectors go for an upgrade. The X-Tera may have an advantage in depth, but you have to factor in the risk of the trade. The detector may not be in the condition you expected aggravation with shipping and handling. On the other hand,if you don't have the money and the charm of the 250 has worn off get the XT30.The XT may give you better confidence and will let you learn a different metal detector.
