Ok i own a etrac and love it. For those of you that have made the upgrade from the etrac what seperates the 3030 from the etrac. Does it ID coins better, does it find coins the etrac doesnt, is it better on gold. What is diffrent that makes it good. Any info on it would be awsome. Its alot of money and dont want to be sorry if i upgrade. Thanks in advance

I'd say the CTX's biggest "upgrade" over the E-Trac is finding the goods among the trash. A faster processor and newer software makes it possible.

The faster processor is definitely noticeable in areas with a higher trash density. The first two weeks I had the machine I went back over areas I pounded with my ETRAC and my 6x8 SEF coil. I was amazed at the results. So many "firsts". The most notable was finding 6 deep silver dimes, and a Large Cent in a tiny spot that had stopped producing. I couldn't "hear" them with the ETRAC. 11" depth in a lot of iron, and the ETRAC could NOT hit on those targets. That's my biggest "Like" about the CTX. It has really been worth the switch.

Other things I like about the machine are as follows. The weight is slightly better balanced. Being completely waterproof is always a plus IMHO. The wireless is my second favorite thing too. In the past I had to remove my headphones and lay them on top of my 'Trac, but with the CTX I can either leave them on my head, or around my neck. Target Trace is awesome. I can now "see" multiple targets, meaning, if there's a nail near a coin I'll see both the burgundy color coin spot, along with the blue from the iron, so I have more information which helps me decide whether or not to dig the iffy targets. Other things like the GPS are neat, but I don't use it much. Basically, as a former ETRAC user I can definitely tell you that you'll really like this machine. .02

Ben the first several hours I used the Minelab CTX 3030 I honestly wasn't impressed all that much. After about 10 hours or so I started to see the light. It ID's coins much more accurately on side or at depth and the ability in heavy iron to recover from a null was MUCH improved.

I went back to my old E-Trac and after about 10 minutes could REALLY notice that my CTX was a big improvement.

Then Gone Hunting produced his settings for the CTX and talk about a game changer! WOW! Using his setting really opens that baby up!

Feel free to give me a ring with questions. Love to help you!

The E-Trac is still one HECK of a machine. I found more silver with it than all my other machines put together over all my years of hunting. That is saying something on just how good the E-Trac is! Heck there are regular multi silver post on the Minelab Explorer forums. All the Minelabs kick booty! Pick one and learn it!
