Gulf Huntress

New member
OK, everyone, here is the story. Went for a hunt with GH Saturday at one of our usual spots.
It was kinda lame at first, but then I decided to try hunting in the mine, well it paid off for me.
I usually just hunt the edge and maybe knee deep, but got way out there, braved it in waist deep water.
I got me a 10K with CZ's in the shape of a flower, held up one finger to GH, and he smiled, then
about 10 mins later, held up 2 fingers to GH, found me a nice 14K with stone.

I stopped huntin around 4pm as I was tired and I was not finding anything worth posting, so I headed to the truck to check my stones.
No good, but at least I got GOLD!!!!!, GH was a little puckered, but he is a good sport. Total clad was .99.

I usually beat GH with more clad, but he got me on this hunt. I got the Gold.

I say you still can't trust thermal testers 100%. A jeweler might have a different opinion. In my experience, every time I had a ring with a 'D' mark, it was a diamond.

Do you have a loupe? If you do, how do the edges of the flat look? Sharp? Worn? See any carbon inside or occlusions? Looking through the diamond, do the cuts leading to the bottom point look sharp or dull?

These aren't foolproof indicators either but if there is wear on the top edges, then you know it is not likely to be a diamond.

Regardless, they are great finds. It's always nice to find gold!
