I Have Learned My Lesson

Hello everyone! Well,...I have learned a valuable lesson. You really do get what you pay for. I wanted to do some water detecting. I don't live near the ocean. I just have a local lake with a small swimming area to hunt in so I didn't want to spend $500 + dollars for a new underwater detector from a major detector company. So, what do I do? I go and buy a used cheap Aquavision Pro. I had a little luck finding some silver jewelry, but mostly pulltabs and trash and NO gold The company is absolutely worthless in their warranty and service departments. So I finally came to my senses and realized that I need a GOOD machine even if I just use it here locally a few times a year. Can anyone else relate?

on some type of product! You live and you learn! It's only bad if you don't' learn from it You don't always need top of the line but if you are in the upper half of the product line you are probably going to have something decent.

Ditto Hon, bought the Excal 1000 and haven't looked back. I did add the CZ-21 and the Surf PI Dual Field to my arsenal after I had the Excal but both are quality machines.

The lasting value of buying quality remains long after the thrill of cheap price is forgotten.

I know that Minelab is the best, albeit the most expensive. All the pros use minelab.

But I also know that minelab needs lerning time. A year or more at least. So for now I decided to marry three user friendliest midpriced machines MXT, DUAL FIELD and Wader (Sorry, Bling , I did not listened to wise warnings and bought it! But for $200 only!). To practice several years on them, and in several years when ready to retire will tell my co-workers to buy me the most up to date and most expensive minelab at that time. I know that they will be so happy to get rid of me so they buy anything for their dear Mirco.

I agree you can get up and running with the Excal very quickly, Duke. I also have to add that to Really Know the Excal inside and out it takes a bunch of time and experience before it will really sing to you every time you take it out into the surf. The Excal is still my weapon of choice compare to the CZ-21 and the Dual Field, perhaps that's because I love the way it sings to me.

You are right chief! DF does not sing, it screams at each sign of metal. And for a stupid beginner like m`self without a skilled trained ear it is what is needed I guess. Minelab is too delicate and too sophisticated for a beginner to enjoy and disfruit all its possibilities.

In five years, with God`s permission!, I will have the most up to date high teck and most expensive Minelab that will be available on the market at that future time.
