hi all i hope someone can advise me,i have owned a sov g.t since they came out +before this an xs2apro,really pleased with there performance ,then i bought an excal 1[blue headphones]so i could water hunt but was not pleased with its performance [maybe half as good as the sov]sent it back to ireland complaining twice ,they said it was working as it should,i thensent it back again because i thought it was useless then they sent me an ex demo model with yellow headphones in exchange, about 3 years ago.i have tried +tried with this one ,but am i just unlucky because i think the performance is still poor compared to my sov g.t..i can afford to buy a new excal 2 but i am scared of it not performing as good as my g.t. ,so honest opinions please is the excal 2 really any good +how much difference is there between it + the g.t. p.s. just returned from a week trip to europe used the gt,in the water ,signals were about the same as on the wet sand ,then used the excal+the signals not as good and also nowhere near the depth ,thanks for your input alun

Nice Pile, If you found all that with the sovereign...you have not missed much. Honestly, my opinion..the new are less then there predecessors. I would by another GT, and waterproof the old. How long have you been hunting and How many trips to europe did it take to amass all that nice treasure. Congrads on all the Gold n silver.

The Sovereign GT is said to get a bit more depth than older Sovereigns, and so I would assume that also means it gets a little deeper than an Excal, since I would doubt they are running a GT's guts in an Excal. More than likely an older version of the Sovereign was made into the Excal. Like he said, you could waterproof a GT in a housing. Very easy to do. Search this forum for "waterproof" and you'll find threads on it.
