I have been testing a new overseas machine lately

that comes equipped with a reverse discrimination switch. It is called a Red Heat Tornado manufactured in the UK. Basically you set your disc level via a knob like on many machines, then when you receive a tone/target you pull the toggle switch. If the tone stays it is an iron target, and if the machine goes silent it is a non-ferrous target to be dug.

While using it the idea struck me that a similar action could be programmed into the X50 & X70, and it would actually be easier on the X50. Set up Pattern 1 as you determine for the area you are searching, and Pattern 2 with everything but iron rejected. If you locate a target push the Pattern Button to switch Patterns. If the target sounds better in iron accept(Pattern 2)then don't dig. It's easier on the X50 because the Pattern Button acts like a toggle switch between the two Patterns.

I know some might find the above superfluous, while others that are more "audio" hunters might find it interesting to try.

here is a link to a site that has quite a comprehensive list of detectors, and compares the depths in given situations. Looks like they have quite a few of our favorites in the mix! Including the one you mentioned. HH Randy

I saw that before and got quite a laugh. Maybe in Xanadu, but not in Amuurica.
