Giving up my AT Pro and all the accessories and coming back to a White's MXT or MXT Pro...
Do not get me wrong...I like the AT Pro just fine, but some things about it just do not mesh with how I get to my hunt sites and how I hunt...
The biggest drawbacks are:

1) The detector should not be taken apart too often to pack into a small bag (seal wear)
2) The Seals must be kept greased or they dry out
3) the Glare off the faceplate in bright sun is absolutely blinding
4) the machine can become unstable at a moments notice (flashes random junk on the screen). This is usually due to some strong EMI interference in the area. Only fix is to reset the machine and wait about 5 minutes to turn it back on.
5) Carrying the machine fully assembled with all the gear I have requires the Garrett backpack with the loops to attach the fully assembled detector to the back of the pack (Garrett No longer sells these, and Kelly Co has a limited supply left).
6) I do not plan to do too much water hunting in the near future
7) I REALLY hate S rods.....

I walk or bike to most of my hunting sites (Do not own a vehicle), so the backpack was vital to carrying my equiptment.

I really enjoyed my old White's QXT Pro, and I like how White's are designed and function...Also the handles are much more ergonomic and the balance is good.

HH,

You have a good detector now, however, what ever you are more comfortable with. I had an Etrac and a DFX. Strated getting the hang of the Etrac and then would have to put it down due to work and other commitments. So it was hard to get a full handle on it. So I sold it and bought an MXT for the simplicity and capabilities and love it.

I had an AT Pro and liked it ok. Now I have an MXT. To me the MXT sounds are much clearer on what to dig. I won't go back. You won't go wrong with an MXT. The depth with 6x10dd on my MXT was as good or better than the AT Pro w/ 11" coil in my test coins.

I been slaying the silver with my mxt pro. I have already found more quarters and dimes with this machine than any others I have previously owned.

Now the question is ... Do I sell the AT Pro package straight up and buy the MXT new, or trade AT Pro for used MXT? I feel I could get at least $1000 for the AT and all 5 coils. I have over $1200 invested and it still has 6 months of Warranty on it.

HH,

If you trade. Figure out a package of coils to go with the AT Pro that equal value for an MXT or MXT Pro. I traded a particular detector w/ 3 coils for a MXT w/ 3 coils. If you have to you could sell your extra coils depending on the trade.

Good luck,

Find a good quality backpack that fits your needs. Then go to the tailor and pay the $50 to have the loops sewn on. Add saddle bags and a bike rack, and you could be out all weekend.

Took your advice and took it to a shoe maker...He is charging me $20 bucks to stitch and reinforce the seams, and I will have the pack back on Monday...Saves me $40-50...
Thanks for the advice...I may keep this AT afterall, but will keep the detector package up on the FS/FT forum and see if I get any takers on a sale or trade in the next week or so...
