Just thought do i have to unsoldier the wire for my headphones before i run the wire through the cable clam i have a 45 degree 1/4 plug Black Widow ill be using a Plano waterproof box and Cable Clams ? thanks for any help . It is for my Sovereign GT . Thanks Jim

If I remember right....lol

No, you will drill a hole (it will need to be snug on the diameter of your cable) in the thick black rubber plug in the middle of the clam. Then you will make a single cut in the black rubber plug with a razor blade from the outside edge to the hole in the middle (you just drilled), use the cut to slide your cable in until it reaches the hole that you have drilled. Once everything is put together the hole and cut will seal itself from the pressure of assembly.

The Clam will have directions explaining it better that I have.

Good luck.

On second thought, if you can find a set of wireless headphones (like the Auvio ones that Radioshack had) you will only need one clam for your coil wire. I set up a detector that way a while back and the wireless headphones worked fine.

Thanks for the tips cadman ill ckeckout the Auvio,s  Jim

Yes it will fit thur, all you have to worry about is the white plastic hole, if it goes thur that your fine.

Also, do a search in this forum for Kbron2000 as he is using that box and clamshell. He is using wireless headphones but he said you can get away with one clamshell for both the headphone and coil cable by thinking about where you drill them. I would guess side by side but far enough apart to seal between them, and yet not so far apart from each other that you bump into the outer white plastic part. One razor slice to reach both holes. Hope you know what I mean. If you do a search for him you'll find links to his videos showing installation and such of the clamshell and box for his GT. Nice setup. I'm doing the same this winter with his $20 Plano box he got, but I'm mounting the box on a snap on back shaft extension to keep it from floating or dragging in the water. Going as deep as my Excal friends (neck deep) this summer without even worrying about a potential leak since the box will be at head height on the shaft and so not even touch the water even when I'm neck deep. I already testing the 22" back shaft snap on extension with the GT stuck on there and the balance is perfectly fine. Effortless in fact.

On my GG, in order to make the bend at the 90 I had to grind it down a bit with my dremel tool besides that it was just fine.

Good luck!
