Sovereign Ultimate 13" coil Is It Waterproof i would like to go in the water up to my neck. Any Help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The Sovereign isn't waterproof.

The coil probably is.

Salt water?

Large coils have a lot of drag in water. In salt water you may have to play with the sensitivity. Tough to do with a Sov and trying to keep the box dry.

Excals with stock coils in that deep of water is the way to go. You don't really need extra depth when in deep water. You do need a good long handle scoop with a good assist handle so you can dig one handed.

Digging in that deep a water you will probably dunk the Sov and kill it.

I believe the ultimate 13 is NOT waterproof but only Water resistant based on past posts ive read but dont know for sure...

I purchased one of the old white ultimate coils and it was listed as Water Resistant.

My Sovereign Ultimate 13" coil has been submerged many times with no ill effects; however it goes nuts once you get to upper calf depth. I would suggest the NEL 15" Attack coil or a WOT coil for deeper water.

Yes mine was water proof. BUT.... the closer to the waters edge you get the less advantage it has over the standard coil. NECK deep with a Sov??? you are asking for problems since the box is not waterproof. Now if you are thinking of a larger coil...... then the SEF or possibly the NEL would be a good choice for WADING. Otherwise get an Xcal..... period.

Fliptop: I run my ULTIMATE 13 chest deep on my Excalibur ll. Just need to lower the sensitivity a bit and give the coil time to cool down to the water temp.
I see no advantage over the 10" Excal. coil though and pin pointing is more difficult so the Minelab 10" is the coil of choice. All the above in salt water. I noticed
you did not say you were using a Sovereign detector only mentioned ULTIMATE 13 for Sovereign. All Sovereign coils will run on the Excalibur's.

One thing bad about the Ultimate coils in my opinion are the coil ears. Thin! The abrasive sand and force applied by the surf make those thin ears wear. A very nice coil in the wet sand otherwise. The weight and coverage area are just great. The way the bottom of the coil is designed a coil cover is not needed. I use my older Sovereign up to my knees. I chest mount it very high....just below my neck. One of these days I'll probably take a wave and that will be the end of it. But after having a variety of Excals and where and how I hunt the Sovereign is still my favorite.
